Lincoln Co. Raceway, North Platte, NE (June 29, 2007)

This was the second time the KBMR team has traveled to the North Platte racetrack.  Their first trip was very successful last year winning the CLMA race.  Kyle started front row outside in his heat.  He powered to the lead and held on to win the 12 lap race.  Winning the heat put him 3rd row inside for the feature.  At the drop of the green as he entered the first turn, several cars got together and he was shuffled to 11th.  He was able to move back up to 7th before the track rubbered up and then there was little passing the rest of the race.  He finished 7th.

Junction Motor Speedway, McCool Junction, NE (June 30, 2007)

The KBMR team did not get lucky on the draw and drew the back of the heat.   Kyle was able to nail the set up on his car and move forward from 8th to finish 4th.  It was not quite enough to get him in the “A” feature, so he would have to run the “B”.  He started front row outside and was very fast.  Jumped to the lead on the drop of the green and pulled away to the win.  For the “A” feature, Kyle started 6th row inside.  He had a good car and was moving up.  But with no cautions he just could not catch the front pack.  Kyle felt the car was great and was very excited about how it responded to the slick race track.  He finished 6th.

Belleville Highbanks, Belleville, KS (July 1, 2007)

The team traveled down to the highbanks of Belleville, KS.  Kyle had the fastest time in hot laps, just missing a track record.  The car felt good and Belleville is usually quite a challenge.  During his heat, the car started to have mechanical problems.  Kyle still faired well and finished 2nd in his heat and qualified for the “A” feature.  In order to salvage the engine, the team made the decision to go out and take the first lap and then retire to infield to stay with in striking distant in the points chance.   He was scored 24th.

Enid Speedway Park, Enid, OK (July 3, 2007)

After a day off, the team felt ready to take on the Enid Speedway Park.  The team had been to this track one other time about 20 years ago.  Early on the track was slick and showed signs of rubbering up.  Kyle finally got a good draw and started front row outside of his heat.  He had a great start and won his heat easily, putting him second row outside in the “A” feature.  At the end of the first lap Kyle had jumped into 3rd place.  Then around lap 12 Kyle was finally able to get into 2nd place.  He would hold off Kelly Boen to finish 2nd.  This is the best finish this year for the KBMR team.  They were very excited and Kyle finally feels that he is getting to know his new Mastersbilt chassis.

81 Speedway, Wichita, KS (July 4, 2007)

They were able to get hot laps in before they cancelled it due to rain.  It has been rescheduled for July 26th.

Coming Up

The team has a break for a while as the Mayetta races have been postponed to September and the Hutchinson race on July 19 has been cancelled.  Kyle will be racing Neil Zank’s modified July 17th at Eagle Raceway in Eagle, NE for a USMTS race.  His next late model race will be back home at Mid Nebraska Speedway in Doniphan for the Late Model Nationals, a 2 night event, July 20th-21st.  He will then head up to the Boone Co. Raceway in Albion, NE for a WDRL race on Sunday, July 22nd.  Hope to see you there.
