Cornhusker Classic Results
Super Late Model
The KBMR team was able to get the new Mastersbilt car complete in time for the Cornhusker Classic. They were looking forward to working with the new car. It was off to a good start, in the heat race, Kyle came from the back to finish 3rd. This would just get him into the “A” feature. The feature would see Kyle starting inside the 5th row. The chassis set up left a little to be desired and Kyle had to settle for a 13th place finish.
Grand National
This would be the first feature of the night for the KBMR team. Kyle was diving Neil Zank’s 33z car. He ran very well in Friday night’s heat race putting him second row inside of the 25 lap feature. Kyle would move to 2nd by the end of lap 1. Kyle took the lead on lap 7 after a side by side battle with Shawn Harker. Kyle would hold off the rest of the pack and picked up the win.
IMCA Late Model
Kyle ran extremely well in the 14 JR car in the heat race on Friday and found himself on the front row outside for the 30 lap feature. Kyle would charge to the lead at the drop of the green flag. Chris Spieker chased Kyle for the 30 lap feature. Lapped cars were Kyle’s downfall as Chris chased him down and took the lead on the white flag lap. Kyle would finish a tough 2nd.
Modified
Kyle didn’t fair as well in the modified. In the heat race Friday night he had to come from the back of the pack on a slick track. He moved up to 4th but it would prove to not be enough for the “A” feature. He started inside the 2nd row in the “B” feature and were able to hold on to the position through out the race and qualify into the “A”. Coming from the “B” put the KBMR team in the back of the feature line up. Kyle was able to move forward fairly well and brought home an 8th place finish.
Coming Up
This weekend the KBMR team will be traveling to Lakeside Speedway, KS. This is a favorite track for the team. It will be a 2 night event with features on both nights. It is a co-sanctioned event with both the WDRL and MLRA series.
